Jim Flora, Richard Strauss 10″ Record Cover

Here’s a 10″ record I haven’t seen pictured. It is not signed or mentioned on the back but it is listed on the Columbia Records section on the Jim Flora site as one of his designs. I knew it had to be a Flora design since the moment I saw it. Always happy to find Jim Flora records. I have more but they all have been featured many times on other sites.

UPDATE: at the time I wrote this post, there wasn’t any info available and I just found out that there is an article on the Jim Flora blog. Seems to be quite a rare piece.

How to use the Bell Chime

Here’s a nifty two color instructional pamphlet for Bell Telephone System. Nice color, layout, type and photography. The dots on the cover of the handset is a nice little abstraction. They are positioned the same as the photo on the inside.

Stanley Stubenberg

I usually do photos of my own findings but I think Stanley Stubenberg deserves a spot here. He was a noted Hawaiian artist. His work,  mostly Hawaiian themed, is featured on the Tiki Moden book. He worked on many restaurant menu’s as well as several books on Hawaiian culture.

The only piece I own is the Young Folk’s Hawaiian Time: A Collection of True Hawaiian Children’s Stories by Genie Pitchford which has bee featured in a lot of places. More images on this Flickr photostream by Lynne’s Lens

I also highly suggest you swing by Arkiva Tropika they have a wonderful collection of Polynesian Pop ephemera, mostly pre-1970.

Celebrity Folding Hangers

Ok, it’s February, so you’ll get a lot of pink (…I know). Here’s a fun packaging for Celebrity Inc. New York. They are, well, three folding hangers for travel and home. As always love geometric patters and this is no exception. Overall typography is sweet. Love that number 3.
