Columbia Masterworks Book cover by Alex Steinweiss

Here is a book cover designed by Alex Steinweiss titled “The Columbia Book of Musical Masterworks” in 1947. I normally think record covers when I think of Steinweiss so when I saw this book, I snagged it right away. As usual there is a nice play with type, image and texture. Enjoy!

P.G. Wodehouse Book cover by Olle Eksell

Here is a book cover designed and Illustrated by the swedish designer Olle Eksell. This was found all the way in Stockholm, Sweden and I was very excited to scavenge a copy of this magnificent book. The illustrations and colors in combination with the custom typography makes this cover vibrate with joy. Unfortunately the book is in swedish so I won’t get to read it. Enjoy!

The Bible speaks by Dan Bar-Giora

Here’s an interesting rendering of the bible for kids. It was printed in the Netherlands in 1965. Love the illustration, the bright colors and the limited palette. There’s quite a modern feel in this piece. Textures and background shapes are very interesting. Enjoy!

The Burl Ives Song Book by Le Goullon

Here’s a song book titled ” The Burl Ives Song Book” Illustrated by R. J. Lee and Lamartine Le Goullon. But I decided to focus only on Le Goullon’s illustrations. I recently came around a few of his pieces and I was very impressed by his style. It’s very detailed and loose at the same time. This book is thick and filled with illustrations. I tried to show the best here. Enjoy!
