Now that summer is coming I’m starting to ride my bike again. So here’s one to get you inspired to ride one.
Swedish poster designed by Rolf Lagerson Titled “Save Money for a Bicycle” designed approximately between 1955-1956.
A blog about vintage modern design & illustration curated by Javier Garcia

After all the posts I’ve made over the past year, I realized most of the things here are a collection of items that have No Barcode. Therefore, I thought the name was very appropriate for what I was doing. My focus is mostly on vintage modern graphic design. Could be american, swiss, scandinavian, etc. I try to cover my favorite periods from 1940-1970 and perhaps a few other’s that followed that style over the years up until today.
I try to post my own findings and articles with my own photographs and scans (with a few exceptions). I really enjoy the blogs that take the effort to find their own articles. I might not post as regularly as I would like since I do it all by myself but you know the stuff here is hand picked.
All in all, I hope you are enjoying going through my posts and I hope to keep you visiting.

This is one of my favorites from his covers for the Haydn Society. They are three volumes on an anthology with some of the Haydn artists including Finn Viderø, Aksel Schiøtz, Else Brems, Niels Brincker, etc.
The drawings are very ornamental yet geometric and again textured. A lot of fun details on this illustrations contrasted with some bright colors. Another wonderful two color design.

Another design by Joseph Low. I couldn’t skip this one again. The photo does not do it justice. Like the Haydn Society records I have, this book is best viewed in person. The quality of the printing, the mix of overprinting colors, etc. made this 3 color book scream to me from the shelve.
Other pieces of his work posted: Master Pieces of Music, Bach/ Finn Videro, Bach / Finn Videro 2, Bach, Buxtehiude and Haydn.

Interesting character / Logo done for Antonelly by Castellano Studio from Italy around 1957. I’m guessing it was for optics?
